Hi everyone!
We have finished Quarter 1 today and our situation is as follows:
– Fully online learning. Students from grades 1 to 12 have zoom live classes during school time following the normal schedule (9 to 3.30 PM).
– Around 30% of the foreign staff is on campus and they are teaching online synchronously (schools are closed and students at home)
– Around 70% of the foreign staff aborad (stuck in their countries without being able to fly in the country) teaching online asynchronously, working closely with local staff that leads their zoom live sessions in their absence.
– Around 50% of the local staff is working from home due to lockdowns in some neighborhoods in the city.
– Cases are growing fast over the last two weeks and the government is taking new precautions to control the spread.
– Biggest challenges are communication/cooperation and lack of stable internet connection for some students and/or staff.
About PE…we are struggling to get all students joining our PE zoom lessons especially with grades 7-8-9 (attendance is lower than 50% in some classes). I would appreciate any advice on these grade levels.
We can expect that the situation will not change until Christmas at the earliest and e are trying to create new activities to teach GLOs that are not fitness/health-related only. We are already thinking of potential activities for the second semester as well in case we are still teaching online (very likely).
Without doubts, an incredibly challenging year so far!!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Jordi
